Other Industry : Citric acid is used as a flavoring agent and preservative in many processed foods, including soft drinks, beverages, candies, and canned foods. Its sour taste adds tartness and its acidic pH slows oxidation, helping foods last longer. Citric acid is also used in ice cream as an emulsifying agent and in sucrose crystallization for caramel.
